These terms govern your use of Trip to Japan? ("the app", "we", "our"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What Trip to Japan? Is

Trip to Japan? is an educational quiz app that teaches cultural etiquette and customs for visiting Japan. The app provides quiz-based learning, explanations, and — for Trip Pass users — AI-powered answers to culture-related questions.

2. Using the App

No account is required. You may use the app's free features without providing any personal information. You agree to use the app in a manner consistent with its educational purpose and not to misuse, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the app's underlying data or systems.

3. Trip Pass (In-App Purchase)

Trip Pass is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase (¥980) that unlocks premium features including Cultural Why explanations, Ask AI, spaced repetition review, and detailed score breakdowns.

• Payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not handle your payment information.
• Trip Pass is a one-time purchase — there are no subscriptions or recurring charges.
• Refund requests should be directed to Apple or Google, per their respective refund policies.
• You can restore your purchase on a new device using the "Restore Purchase" option in Settings.

4. Ask AI Feature

The Ask AI feature uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to answer questions about Japanese culture. By using this feature, you acknowledge:

• AI responses are generated automatically and may not always be accurate or complete.
• Answers are for general educational purposes and should not be relied upon as professional advice.
• You must accept the in-app AI Consent before using this feature. You may decline, in which case the feature will not be available.
• We automatically filter personal information (emails, phone numbers, URLs, credit card numbers) from your questions before processing. However, you should avoid submitting sensitive personal information.
• Questions that involve emergencies, legal matters, or medical issues are detected and redirected — the AI will not attempt to answer them.

5. Content & Intellectual Property

All quiz content, explanations, illustrations, and design elements in Trip to Japan? are our original work or used under license. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the app's content without our written permission.

The "Japan Ready Score" share card feature is intended for personal sharing on social media and messaging. This is a permitted use.

6. Accuracy & Disclaimer

We strive to provide accurate, respectful, and up-to-date information about Japanese customs and etiquette. However:

• Cultural norms can vary by region, context, and situation within Japan.
• The app reflects general guidance and common practices — not absolute rules.
• We update content periodically but cannot guarantee it reflects every recent change.
• The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

7. User Conduct

When using the Ask AI feature, you agree not to:

• Submit questions intended to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content.
• Attempt to circumvent the app's input sanitization or content filters.
• Use the AI feature for purposes unrelated to Japanese culture or travel.
• Submit other people's personal information.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim related to the app shall not exceed the amount you paid for Trip Pass (¥980) or, if you have not purchased Trip Pass, zero.

9. Data & Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on what data we collect and how we handle it.

10. Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it from your device. You can also delete all app data from Settings → "Delete all data" before uninstalling. We reserve the right to suspend or limit access to the Ask AI feature if we detect misuse.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the app shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tokyo, Japan.
